Meet Joanna Espiritu, RN, Nurse Continence Advisor

Hello and Welcome!

You can call me Jo!

I have been a Registered Nurse for more than 17 years. I have worked at surgical wards from both rural and urban hospitals. As much as I loved shift work, it was not loving me back. Nightshifts started to take a toll on my physical and mental health. Having our first child has set new priorities in my career. Luckily, I was able to transition into clinic work as a Nurse Continence Advisor (NCA). This new role allowed me to dive deeper into personalized care and support.

Working at the Bladder Clinic as an NCA, I’ve heard so many women say, “Gosh, I wish I knew about your services 25 years ago!”. Although I had a little bit more time with these patients, I was only able to provide them a limited amount of appointments before discharging them from the program.

I know I do a great job in helping improve their overactive bladder, bladder pain and recurrent bladder infections but I find them suffering through poor sleep, weigh gain, and anxiety. This led me to a rabbit hole research of “How can I do better to help these women?”

Unfortunately, I had to leave my position at the Bladder Clinic due to my husband’s job relocation. Fortunately, this transition allowed me time to set up my private practice where I can help more women. I am happy and proud to be able to offer my services for women living in Alberta and British Columbia!
